Jonathan’s passions for culture, exploration and storytelling inspired him to leave his Midwestern roots for the East coast.  He has travelled through Southeast Asia, Africa, Mexico and Canada. He received dual BA’s in Journalism and Creative Writing from Drake University and currently lives in Baltimore as a self proclaimed crab cake snob.  His work is inspired by color, light and the relationships photography can often forge.

In 2010, the Magenta Foundation named him one of the top emerging photographers in addition to being awarded a place at the Eddie Adams Workshop. A recent ‘Kickstarter’ grant afforded him a trip to Ethiopia where he worked on project documenting the role of midwives in rural Ethiopia.

Jonathan is represented by Wonderful Machine.
